In early 2003 Phil and Grier Warrick purchased 20 acres of grazing land located on Leasingham Road, Watervale, overlooking Reilly’s Winery and Annie’s Lane Vineyards. The beginnings of ‘Warrick Grove’.
The initial years were spent as weekend shed dwellers while 5000 FS17 (Signore) olive trees were planted along with 2000 native trees.
Next came the construction of a new house and in 2007 they moved from the city and became full time Australian Extra Virgin Olive Oil producers in the beautiful Clare Valley – their ‘Tree Change’.
2008 saw the hand harvest of a small amount of fruit producing excellent ‘EVOO’ which was distributed among friends and family.
2009 produced the first commercial harvest of 12.5 tonnes resulting in 2500 litres of quality Extra Virgin Olive Oil.
‘Warrick Grove’ is a signatory to the Australian Olive Association’s ‘Code of Practice’ and immediately after harvesting and pressing the olives, the oil is analysed prior to its being certified as Fresh Australian Extra Virgin Olive Oil.
In 2011 'Warrick Grove' oil was entered in the Olives SA/Royal Adelaide Show Extra Virgin Olive Oil Competition and also the Adelaide Review Olive Harvest competition. The Adelaide review awarded the oil a Silver medal with the comments: "Mid to deep green. Excellent fresh aromas of green beans and freshly cut grass. Whilst the nose would suggest otherwise, the oil showed a lot of sweetness and richness. Medium level of bitterness and pepperyness together with a pleasant tobacco leaf flavour. An 'Italian cafe' style was suggested by one of the tasters. Suited to a variety of pasta dishes where a pleasant olivey presence is needed." The same oil was awarded a Bronze medal by the Olives SA/Royal Adelaide Show judges with the comments: "Good herbal aromas. Sweeter flavours with a medium level of bitterness and pungency."
